LOCAL INDIE SCENE

I'm sorry I've been way tooo busy to update this site (that is if anyone's still reading). But I had to write an entry to let you guys (or what's left of my readers) know about the new album that my friend's band, Pension State, just cut. It's called Yesterdays Make Your Tomorrows, and although it's not a full-length album, its a really good effort.

I'm really proud to know the lead vocalist (Adrian aka Ah Tan), and I'm even more pleased that he mailed me the album all the way from home to here in the US.

Kudos to Pension State in their efforts, and please support the local indie scene!!

Song of the day:
Lauryn Hill + Bob Marley:
Turn Your Lights Down Low Lyrics

[Bob Marley]
Turn your lights down low
And pull your window curtain
Oh let "JAH" moon come shining in
Into our life again
Saying ooh, it's been a long, long time
(Lauryn- Long, long time)
I got this message for you girl
But it seems I was never on time
Did I wanna get through to you girl?
On time, on time
I want to give you some love
I want to give you some good, good loving
Oh I, oh I, oh I
Yeah I want to give you some good, good loving

[Lauryn Hill]
Turn your lights down low
Never ever try to resist, oh no
Let your love come shining in
Into our lives again
And ooh, I love you
And I want you to know right now
Ooh I love you
And I want you to know right now
That I, that I
I wanna give you some love
I wanna give you some good, good loving
Oh I, oh I, oh I
I wanna give you some good, good loving

Loving you is a like a song I replay
Every three minutes and thirty seconds of every day
And every chorus was written for us to recite
Every beautiful melody of devotion every night
It's potion like this ocean that might carry me
In a wave of emotion to ask you to marry me
And every word, every second, and every third
Expresses the happiness more clearly than ever heard
And when I play them, every chord is a poem
Telling the Lord how grateful I am cos I know him
The harmonies possess a sensation similar to your caress
If you asking then I'm telling you it's yes
Stand in love, take my hand in love, Jah bless

[Lauryn & Bob]
I want to give you some good, good loving
I want to give you some love
I want to give you some good, good loving
Oh I, oh I, oh I
I wanna give you some good, good loving

Good, good, good loving
I wanna give you some good loving

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Today, I salute two outstanding musicians that I had the good fortune to see perform live during the Evanescence concert at The Wiltern.

Opening band: DEFAULT (how lucky was that.. I didn’t even know) They have a wonderful performance chemistry that is evident in the excellent sounds they produce. You can also tell that they're having fun.. and isn’t that what music is all about?

Salutes: Dallas Smith (vocals)

Oh my god. I didn’t know he had such a powerful voice.. I swear, what we hear over the airwaves does not do justice to his voice. He sounds SO DAMN FABULOUS live. Wow…Amazing vocals that exuberate strength, power, emotion.. while sounding ridiculously melodious and just.. beautiful.

EVANESCENCE
Salutes: Amy Lee (vocals)

It’s hard for a female vocalist to sing above the heavy banging of the drums and two guitarists, but her voice still managed to ring through. Although she sounded a tad bit shrill at some points, I have to say kudos to her solo performance of the two slow songs. She played the grand piano while singing, and it was just.. amazing. Without any other sound, her beautiful voice didn’t have to strain to sing above the soft playing of the piano, and hearing “My Immortal” live has made me love the song even more.

RESPECT, respect indeed.

DEFAULT - Taking My Life Away

They reach beside
A leech to find
I dreamed of this so long
This used to feel so strong

Now I wait
Wish these thoughts would go away
I hope I dream of you
Cause it's taking my life away
No I don't hate
But these thoughts won't go away
I hope I dream of you
Cause it's taking my life away

Deep down it hides
Making life a grind
I dreamed of this so long
This used to feel so strong

Now I wait
Wish these thoughts would go away
I hope I dream of you
Cause it's taking my life away
No I don't hate
But these thoughts won't go away
I hope I dream of you
Cause it's taking my life away

Deep down it hides

Now I wait
Wish these thoughts would go away
I hope I dream of you
Cause it's taking my life away
No I don't hate
But these thoughts won't go away
I hope I dream of you
Cause it's taking my life away

JOSH KELLY
I've just started listening to his stuff.. and it's really good. He can be likened to John Mayer and Jack Johnson, but his voice is raspier.. and his music is more mellow and emotive. Wow.. he is pretty damn brilliant. Here are the lyrics to the first song I noticed from him.. p/s: I don't know what happened to my tag board. It packed up and checked out on its own. Oh bother.

Old Time Memory

Standin 'round in a crowded room
your face is here bring me back to you
leaving town slips into my head again
my friends say stay but I wanna go
there's people here that I used to know
to the situation that you put me in
and I can tell myself that I will be gone
you can rest assure that I will be home

cuz I belong to the best of you
and you belong to the things I do
well this song is how I'll remember you
cuz I can tell you what its like to be gone
you're an old time memory
you're an old time memory

laying back with the headphones on
a pen in hand takes me to the dawn
paper warned to the thoughts of you again
taking light of the time of night
a ballpoint fast full of work in mind
the chorus playing in my head again
cuz I can tell myself that I will be gone
but you can rest assure that I will be home

cuz I belong to the best of you
and you belong to the things I do
well this song is how I'll remember you
cuz I can tell you what its like to be gone
you're an old time memory
you're an old time memory

well the feelings that remain
and the promises in vain
and the memories are stained
you do

cuz I can tell myself that I will be gone
and you can rest assured that I will be home

cuz I belong to the best of you
and you belong to the things I do
well this song is how I'll remember you
cuz I can tell you what its like to be gone
cuz I can tell you what its like to be gone
you're an old time memory

More on Josh:

He's a 22year old singer-songwriter and he just released a debut album For The Ride Home.. full of very nice songs.. perfect for the car ride (as intended by JK himself..thus the album title)... try listening to "Amazing".. and I think you might fall in love. Especially Dave Mathews Band fans.. because he's worked with them before.. and they are one of his major musical influences. I found this out ONLY after I liked his stuff.. so its an additional plus point.

Song of the day:
Train - When I Look To The Sky

When it rains it pours and opens doors
And floods the floors we thought would always keep us safe and dry
And in the midst of sailing ships we sink our lips into the ones we love
That have to say goodbye

And as I float along this ocean
I can feel you like a notion that won't seem to let me go

Cause when I look to the sky something tells me you're here with me
And you make everything alright
And when I feel like I'm lost something tells me you're here with me
And I can always find my way when you are here

And every word I didn't say that caught up in some busy day
And every dance on the kitchen floor we didn't dance before
And every sunset that we'll miss I'll wrap them all up in a kiss
And pick you up in all of this when I sail away

Whether I am up or down or in or out or just plane overhead
Instead it just feels like it is impossible to fly
But with you I can spread my wings
to see me over everything that life may send me
When I am hoping it won't pass me by

And when I feel like there is no one that will ever know me
there you are to show me

-- yes.. I've been too busy to compile any lists..so lyrics will have to do for now.. this song is pretty darn nice!

Five For Fighting - 100 Years

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind

I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star

15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...

I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day's a new day...

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Song for the day:
Linkin Park - Breaking The Habit

Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I'm picking me apart again
You all assume
I'm safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again

I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
Cuz inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I know it's not alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight

Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I have no options left again

I dont want to be the one
Who battles always choose
Cuz inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So, I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight

I'll paint it on the walls
Cuz I'm the one that falls
I'll never fight again
and this is how it ends

I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
But now I have some clarity
to show you what I mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So, I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
I'm Breaking the habit tonight

Please go listen to:

Dido - White Flag
(it's a truly beautiful song!)

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
I'll tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?

I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were

Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come back again
And I caused but nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you live by the rules of "it's over"
then I'm sure that that makes sense

Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

And when we meet
Which I'm sure we will
All that was then
Will be there still
I'll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on....

Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

Deprived.

Helloooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Guess who's connected again. Yes.. sweet sweet mother of internet. Muahah.

Well.. I hope I've been missed.. because I am certainly missing home..plenty!

I've been ridiculously busy settling down in school and in my new apartment..so music has not been a priority these few weeks. However, I am starting to suffer from house/trance deprivation. Seriously.. all I hear 90% of the time over here in LA is HIP HOP. HIP HOP ALL DAY LONG. In case you guys haven't noticed.. I don't EVER write about hip hop music.. it is one of my least favourite genres.

BUT! Thanks to my laptop and CDs, I've been able to sustain my dance music intake.. despite not having gone clubbing for a month *shivers cold turkey style* And here's one song that still gets me going.. as I blast them out from my pathetic laptop speakers..(must go stereo shopping asap!!! *shiver shiver*)

Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Tiesto remix)

-- Americans.. still very undecipherable to me. I cannot understand why everyone loves hip hop so much. Well.. they think I speak with a slight BRITISH (?!?!) accent... so my conclusion is that they just hear things differently from all of us.

Goodbye and farewell.. but this isn't the end.
Hi folks, on Monday the 11th of August, this girl will be boarding a plane that will start her off on yet another chapter of her life. I've transferred out of NUS after 2 years there, and I'll be completing my degree in the States. I'll still be blogging from there, so don't give up on this website yet!! There's more to come.. and it might even be better when I'm exposed to the stuff in LA. Thanks for reading, its been good. Cheers.

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye

But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn
The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go

'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

FUNKY HOUSE ALERT!!

Funky house.. a lesser known genre that has yet to rise in popularity among Singaporean clubbers.

I am proud to announce the debut live set of my perpetual club-buddy and neighbour, Jeremy into the DJ-ing scene. Here's how he was described on www.bedroomjocks.com:

Entering adulthood only this year, Jeremy’s introduction to house music began much earlier, after spending countless nights at clubs. Careful not to become another advocate of hard and heavy progressive tunes, Jeremy leans towards everything that is uplifting, funky and soulful. While this is not the first time he has played to a crowd, it’s the bedroom jock’s initiation to a club gig. This may also be his last gig in Singapore as the future lawyer leaves for London in September. Trust us when we say this is just the beginning of better things to come from this promising fresh face.

Debut: 9pm @ Phuture. Saturday, 9th August.
Funky house addicts will be in heaven, while the others will get the chance to learn more about the genre.

All the best Jem, and cheers!

Concert review: Sum 41!
Can anyone spell punk?

Starting half an hour late, the already irritable and sweaty crowd was pumped up by the local opening band, Pug Jelly. They were pretty good for non-professionals, but the crowd was just itching for Sum 41, and having to watch PJ play for half an hour did nothing to ease the tension and anticipation involved in all the waiting. Some guys were like "FUCK OFF!! WHERE'S SUM 41? THEY'RE AN HOUR LATE!!". Woooo.. fierce. When they finally appeared on stage one by one.. the crowd went wild. I mean absolutely ..insanely ..out-of-control kinda wild. It didn't help that the average age of the crowd was 14.. and seemingly on a sugar high. The band did a fantastic job.. played all their popular songs.. built a rapport with the crowd.. talked some trash.. and just burst with energy throughout the whole concert. Fort Canning is a horrible place for a jump-jump-mosh-mosh concert because of the slope.. everyone just jumps and falls on to the person in front.. how dumb is that right? By the end of the night, my toes had been trampled and jumped upon at least 15 times.. my shirt was soaked with my own, and the sweat of at least 10 others *cringe*, my legs were jelly, my pony tail was a wet and lethal whip.. yes, it was bloody disgusting, but my friends and I (the older few in the crowd) still concluded that it was a pretty good experience. One we were glad to survive.. (oh trust me.. those hyperactive 14-year-old kids are FREAKING scary..one came flying through the air and hit my friend on the head.. I applaud her quick reflexes in giving him the finger and shouting at him.. we should've just killed the bugger.)

My Song for the Month:
Thanks to excessive visits to Wala Walas under the influence of my music-loving friends, Dennis and Dez. They always sing this song there, and it has truly grown to become a current favourite among the crowd. I'm sure we all go through phases where everything is just.. not so right.. yet not too wrong. Here's a good song.

Matchbox 20 - Unwell

All day staring at the ceiling
Making friends with shadows on my wall
All night hearing voices telling me
That I should get some sleep
Because tomorrow might be good for something

Hold on
Feeling like I'm headed for a breakdown
And I don't know why

[Chorus]

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be...me

I'm talking to myself in public
Dodging glances on the train
And I know, I know they've all been talking about me
I can hear them whisper
And it makes me think there must be something wrong with me
Out of all the hours thinking
Somehow I've lost my mind

[Chorus]

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be

I've been talking in my sleep
Pretty soon they'll come to get me
Yeah, they're taking me away

[Chorus]

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be

Yeah, how I used to be
How I used to be
Well, I'm just a little unwell
How I used to be
How I used to be
I'm just a little unwell

My song for the day:

U2 - All I Want

You say you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
You say you want
Your story to remain untold

But all the promises we make
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

You say you'll give me
A highway with no one on it
Treasure just to look upon it
All the riches in the night

You say you'll give me
Eyes in a moon of blindness
A river in a time of dryness
A harbour in the tempest
But all the promises we make
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

You say you want
Your love to work out right
To last with me through the night

You say you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
Your story to remain untold
Your love not to grow cold

All the promises we break
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

You...all I want is...
You...all I want is...
You...all I want is...
You...

Post Bay-Beats

Hello people. After 2 days at baybeats (sat/sun), I'm pretty pleased with the concert-hours I've been clocking this year. Loads of my friends were down to check it out (shout outs to CJ, Timmy, Lou, David, Adrian, Bryan, Kai, Tat, Wong, Wei Qing, Kaifong, Cong.. and whoever else I bumped into..)...and I must say the turn out was really respectable. The performances I enjoyed most were by Electric Co. and Bigred.Moment..both local groups! Kudos to them. My friends and I took an awesome picture with Fonzie.. and yes, I've decided to not have anymore silly pictures with only half my face shown.. because basically, everyone who reads this site knows me either in person, or through friends. If you don't know me f2f, but see me around and wanna say hi.. just do it. I've been told that I look really dao, but don't let that deter you. Tell me how much you love my taste in music, and I'll tell you how much I love you.

Anyway, the whole free-concert experience.. plus the constant migrating from the chill-stage to the main arena was really quite interesting. Constant movement, loads of sitting on the hard ground, and having to weave through the crowd..left my bum feeling sore and my legs feeling slightly achey, but I still enjoyed myself thoroughly. I'm really looking forward to Bay Beats 2004.

Hope you guys enjoyed yourselves too.
Cheers.

It just grows on you.
I would like to dedicate this song to all my friends.. it is really special.. a tune that has certainly grown on me as I replayed it at least 10x today. Lyrics are pretty sweet as well. I like it. Do you?

Mandalay - Beautiful

You can depend
On certainty
Count it out and weigh it up again
You can be sure
You've reached the end
And still you don't feel

You know about anything

Do you know you're beautiful
Do you know you're beautiful
Do you know you're beautiful
You are, yes you are

You can ignore
What you've become
Take it out and see it die again
You can be here
For who's a friend
And still you don't feel

You know about anything

Do you know you're beautiful
Do you know you're beautiful
Do you know you're beautiful
You are, yes you are

Innermost thoughts
Will be understood and
You can have all you need

Do you know you're beautiful
Do you know you're beautiful
Do you know you're beautiful
You are, yes you are

Breaking Benjamin
Thank you Kaifong.. thank you, thank you, thank you.. for introducing them to me.

Blasting out from Penn, these four guys released a stellar debut album not too long ago; Saturate.

According to their record company:
"One listen to Saturate, Breaking Benjamin’s explosive Hollywood Records debut, will leave you wanting more. Uncompromising, cathartic and from the gut, the Ulrich Wild-produced (Deftones, Powerman 5000, Static X) album reveals a band with hard smarts, a keen sense of pop savvy, and influences that include Tool, Nirvana and Korn."
--they are pretty loud.. pop savvy? Hmm. But yes, they're good alternative rock.

www.breakingbenjamin.com

You can stream a few tracks off that site to get a sneak preview of their music.

Here are some of the songs from them that I think are awesome:

- Medicate
- Skin
- Polyamorous
- Sugarcoat

Laid back, lazy music..
Lately, I've been introduced to so many fabulous chill-out labels and groups and it's just overwhelming. It's time to go CD shopping pretty soon! Anyway, here are some of the songs that I think are perfect for that ..dimly lit room/sipping drinks/shooting the breeze with your best friends --kinda evening.

MANDALAY: thanks Shao ;)
They remind me a bit of Portishead, but maybe a slightly less melancholic version of them.

> Beautiful -- fabulous song...I like.
> This Life (Wagon Christ Mix)
> Deep Love
> Kissing The Day

ROYSKOPP: kam sia Marcus!!!
Is it just me, or some of their songs have a bit of the 80's feel? They're cool though.

> Remind Me
> Eple --slightly break-beat like.
> Sparks
> Weightless -- starts off pretty slowly, but the pick-up is surreal.

TELEPOPMUSIK
: danke Song..
Very electronic sounds.. pretty good stuff.

> Breathe -- so sexy.. so SO sexy.
> Smile
> Mathematics --interesting sounding with all the bells and squeaks. Kinda magical in a way.

URSULA 1000: yeah Bryan!
These songs are much faster than the others.. they have awesome beats.. actually..they don't actually fit into down-tempo anymore, but I still think you can chill to this stuff. Latin sounds.

> Get On It (Krafty Kuts Latin Funk Mix)
> Mambo 1000 -- very cute. Awesome beats.
> Pleasure Unit

------------------------------
More.. "discovered" without the help of my friends (who all have fabulous taste btw..cheers guys!):

MORCHEEBA:
I love the vocals.. can't get tired of these songs.

> Let Me See
> Otherwise
> Fear and Love
> The Sea -- great song. Try the acoustic version too.
> Be Yourself

RINOCEROSE
:
Cool beats..interesting tunes.

> Machine Pour Les Oreilles -- I like this one quite a lot.
> Dead Can Dance
> Popular Mechanics
> Le Triangle

Gotta have it..gotta have it!!
All sorts of stuff that I can't seem to get sick of.

Sublime - What I Got (of course..)

It all comes back to you you’re going to get what you deserve.
Try and test that, you’re bound to get served.
Love’s what I got, don’t start a riot,
You feel it when the dance gets hot.
Lovin’, is what I got, I said remember that.
Lovin’, is what I got, I said remember that.

Smashing Pumpkins - Perfect

I know we’re just like old friends
We just can’t pretend
That lovers make amends
We are reasons so unreal
We can’t help but feel that something has been lost

Live - Heaven

You dont need no friends
Get back your faith again
You have the power to believe
Another dissident
Take back your evidence
It has no power to deceive
I believe it When I see it
For myself.

Sophie B. Hawkins - Damn I wish I was your lover

Damn I wish I was your lover
I'll rock you till the daylight comes
Make sure you are smiling and warm
I am everything
Tonight I'll be your mother I will
Do such things to ease your pain
Free your mind and you won't feel ashamed

Barenaked Ladies - Call and Answer

You think I only think about you
when we're both in the same room
You think I'm only here to witness
the remains of love exhumed
You think we're here to play
a game of who loves more than whom

Ugly Kid Joe - Everything About You

I, don’t like a thing about your mother,
And I, hate your daddy’s guts too,
I, don’t like a thing about your sister,
’cause I, I, I, think sex is overrated too.

Aimee Mann - That's Just What You Are

Acting steady always ready to defend your fears
What’s the matter with the truth, did I offend your ears
By suggesting that a change might be a thing to try
Like it would kill you just to try and be a nicer guy
It’s not like you would lose some critical piece
If somehow you moved point a to point b
Maintaining there is no point changing ’cause
That’s just what you are

Foo Fighters - Everlong

Come down and waste away with me, down with me
Show how, you wanted it to be, I’m over my head, out of her head she sang
And I wonder when I sing along with you if everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

OUR LADY PEACE

Talking about underrated bands (esp in Singapore).. this is one of them. These Canadian guys really..I mean REALLY.. rock. I think they're pretty well known in the States and Canada, but they're not exactly very hot over here. What with all the hip-hop stuff cluttering up the radio airwaves, all the good music that exists elsewhere is being ignored. Here are some tracks that I like:

- Clumsy
- Innocent
- Thief
- Automatic Flowers
- 4am

Okay I've been busy
Hi guys. Does anyone still visit this page? Hehe.. anyway I've been really busy, so I'll just post a CD review I wrote for some magazine here.. to show that this page is still active!! More music to come in due time.

Michael Buble` - self titled album
REPRISE RECORDS

A debut album consisting entirely of cover songs may raise skepticism among music lovers who relish originality. However, Buble` has used these previous hits (“Kissing a Fool” and “Fever” just to name a few) to his advantage by capitalizing on their popularity. With the excellent accompanying music, his voice takes centre stage in this album. His smooth voice can be sexy, throaty, or sensual depending on the mood of the song. He does justice to all the songs that he covers, but because he didn’t alter them to a distinctive personal style, this album doesn’t have any more impact than a tastefully chosen jazz compilation. Buble` has all the potential to become a fabulous singer, with this great voice and good looks, but he needs to do a little more than this if he wants to get himself noticed.

My songs for the day:

PUNK: New Found Glory - The Minute Met You

I would like to start off by saying,
I had everything to do with it,
You may think that I lie real well,
You can tell that I'm holding it in.
Nevermind the time,
or the spinning of your head,
I can tell my life was changing,
since the minute I met you,

Chorus

and if I stop ever thinking of you,
I'd probably choke on the words I never said,
and if I stop ever thinking of you,
I'd bury my heart and fall back in my bed,
and what a sight that'll be. yea.

Verse 2

I will never tell you this,
but I'm scared of falling apart,
and it may seem like I'm holdng it together,
but the weather is making it hard,
Nevermind the time,
or the spinning of your head,
I could tell my life was changing,
since the minute I met you,

Chorus

and if I stop ever thinking of you,
I'd probably choke on the words I never said,
and if I stop ever thinking of you,
I'd bury my heart and fall back in my bed,
and what a sight that'll be,

all my friends surrounding me,
Just cause you made it this far...
Doesn't mean you've made it.
and if i stop ever thinking of you,
I'd probably choke on the words I never said,
and if I stop ever thinking of you,
I'd bury my heart and fall back in my bed,

Chorus

and if i STOP ever thinking of you,
I'd probably choke on the words I never said,
and if I stop ever thinking of you,
I'd bury my heart and fall back in my bed,

and what a sight that'll be..
and what a sight that'll be... YEA!

My Song For The Day! :
Good Charlotte - Motivation Proclamation

Spend your lazy, endless crazy days, inside my head,
You're so selfish, you're not the only one who thinks he's dead
I'm paid to smile, now I'm on trial for what you think I said
But I never said that everything would be ok,
And I never said that we would live to see another day

[Chorus]
Motivate me, I wanna get myself out of this bed,
Captivate me, I want good thoughts inside of my head,
If I fall down would you come around and pick me right up off the ground
[Chorus Ends]

I'm realistic and narcisistic,
You say I'm selfish and absurd
You try to change me, you try to save me
You say I'm gonna learn, I'm so blind,
I'm out of time, You're so unkind sometimes,
I never lied, I never lied, I never lied
Cuz I never said that everything would be ok, and I never said that we would live to see another day..

[Chorus]
[Chorus Ends]

My Song For The Day:

Zero 7 - Destiny

From the album "Simple Things", this song is really really amazing. I've liked the vocals and tune all along, until I read the lyrics.. heh okay I have to admit I don't think much of the first verse..but the second one and the chorus is just so.. nice. Heh.. I'm at a lost for words.

I lie awake
I've gone to ground
I'm watching porn,
in my hotel dressing gown
And now I, dream of you
but I still believe
there's only enough for one
in this lonely hotel suite.

The journey's long, and I feel so bad.
I'm thinking back to the last day we had
Old moon fades in to the new
Soon I know I'll be back with you
I'm nearly with you, I'm nearly with you.

Chorus:
When I'm weak, I draw strength from you
& whe you're lost I know how to change your mood
& when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart, we are eachother's
Destiny

On a clear day, I'll fly home to you
I'm bending time getting back to you
Old moon fades into the new
Soon I know I'll be back with you
I'm nearly with you, I'm nearly with you.

Chorus Repeat 2x

I'll fly, I'll fly home, I'll fly home, & I'll fly

Classical + Jazz
So apart from the noisy songs, I've been downloading lots of classical songs that sound very jazzy.. and old school jazzy stuff. Here are some tunes that I enjoyed.

Jazzy classical : Some of these are lively piano pieces that are so Charlie Chaplin like...you get what I mean?

Scott Joplin - The Maple Leaf Rag (piano pounding and dancing around the room kinda song)

George Gershwin - Rhapsody In Blue (full orchestra..a song with a touch of cheekiness) --> There's a version done by Benny Goodman.. the jazzy version that is much much sexier.

George Gershwin - Embraceable You (hotel lounge music.. typical)

Joplin & Gershwin - The Entertainer (the Charlie Chaplin song)

Jazzy: Vocal jazz from the best of the best.

Ella Fitzgerald - Paper Moon

Louis Armstrong & Billie Holiday - Let's Call The Whole Thing Off
(This song is just so damn cute. I kept singing it until my friends got annoyed.. especially the part that goes "Either aither, neither naither.." you know the different pronunciations of the words haha.. oh bother.. I can't describe it.. just go listen to it)

The ultimate duet pair are still....
LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND ELLA FITZGERALD:
- They Can't Take That Away From Me
- Dream A Little Dream
- Summertime (Check out the cover that Sublime did of this one...I like!)
- Cheek to Cheek

What's playing today?
Quite bored right now.. my plans for the day got cancelled because my mother is paranoid about the SARS virus. Stupid newspapers making her.. and now me, paranoid for no good reason. So, what can I do but blast music once again. Thank god for my stereo system, I'd die without it. 20 songs for you to get a taste of.. I can find no reason for you to not like them.

Smashing Pumpkins - Ava Adore
"It's you that I adore, you will always be my whore.."

Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World / Lithium

Feeder - High / Seven Days In The Sun

Stone Temple Pilots - Half The Man I Used To Be

Linkin Park - Somewhere I belong

Primitive Radio Gods - Standing Outside A Broken Phonebooth With Money In My Hands

Radiohead - High and Dry

Audioslave - Like A Stone

Dishwalla - The Feeder / Angels Or Devils

Silverchair - Ana's Song

Foo Fighters - Alone + Easy Target

Flickerstick - Beautiful

POA - Bug City

Powder Finger - My Happiness

The Rocket Summer - Skies So Blue
Thanks for the intro. to this singer Adrian! He is really not bad.

Muse - Sunburn

Here are some songs that Kaifong got me to download recently.. they're a bit loud and jumpy (meaning you'll either like them, or find them painfully irritating) so, try them out only if you think you can handle it.

The Transplants - Tall Cans In the Air
there's one part where this guy who sounds like shaggy comes on.. i wonder if its him :)

The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

The Datsuns - Harmonic Generator

Everyone's song for today:
Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons

48 hours ultimatum.. erk. Sigh. Give PEAS a chance.

You and I in a little toy shop,
buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got.
Set them free at the break of dawn
'Til one by one, they were gone.
Back at base, bugs in the software
Flash the message, "Something's out there."
Floating in the summer sky
99 red balloons go by.

99 red balloons floating in the summer sky.
Panic bells, it's red alert.
There's something here from somewhere else.
The war machine springs to life
Opens up one eager eye.
Focusing it on the sky
As 99 red balloons go by.

99 Decision Street, 99 ministers meet
to worry, worry, super-scurry.
Call out the troops now in a hurry.,
This is what we've waited for
This is it boys, this is war!
The president is on the line
As 99 red balloons go by.

99 Kriegsminister
Streichholz und Benzinkanister
Hielten sich fuer schlaue Leute
Witterten schon fette Beute
Riefen: Krieg und wollten Macht
Mann, wer haette das gedacht
Dass es einmal soweit kommt
Wegen 99 ballons

(99 lights in the air
with super high-tech jet fighters
everyones a super hero
everyone's a Captain Kirk
with orders to identify
to clarify and classify
scramble in the summer sky
99 red balloons go by ) english version

99 dreams I have had,
And every one, a red balloon.
It's all over and I'm standin' pretty
In the dust that was a city.
If I could find a souvenir
Just to prove the world was here...
And here it is, a red balloon
I think of you and let it go....

My Song For Today: Eve 6 - Inside Out

{Chorus}
I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rhines
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
I would swallow my doubt
Turn it inside out
Find nothing but faith in nothing
Want to put my tender
Heart in a blender
Watch it spend round
To a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous
Then I'm through with you

I burn burn like a wicker cabinet
Chalk white and oh so frail
I see our time has gotten stale
The tick-tock of the clock is painful
All sane and logical
I want to tear it off the wall
I hear words and clips and phrases
I think sick like ginger ale
My stomach turns and I exhale

{Chorus}

So Cal is where my mind states
But it's not my state of mind
I'm not as ugly sad as you
Or am I origami?
Folded up and just pretend
Demented as the motives in your head

{Chorus}

I alone am the one you don't know you need
Take heed feed your ego
Make me blind when you eyes close
Sink when you get close
Tie me to the bedpost

I alone am the one you don't know you need
You don't know you need me
Make me blind when you get close
Tie me to the bedpost

{Chorus}

Now I'm through with you

Rendezvous
Then I'm through with you

More Electronica: Nightmares on Wax
Thanks for the recommendation David! ;)

The music is just extremely relaxing and nice to completely chill out to. I randomly downloaded a couple of the songs, and although they all sound a bit similar, they're still enjoyable enough. Might be checking out the albums the next time I'm in town. I read some review of the latest album online, and it wasn't fantastic because they said it was just like.. very normal. But still.. here's an apt description of this genre of music:

"Loping bass rhythms intertwine with slinky keyboard grooves, and soulful beatology. It's a seamless mesh of funk, neo-soul, hip-hop, ambient, and blissed out instrumentation."

Sounds good enough.

Featured today: Miles Davis

Here's the link to his official site
I think the intro page is really quite stylish.. the music and all..with the slowly appearing image. Very nice. Don't think there is enough in the music link tho. The webmaster should write more on all his individual albums and the inspirations behind them rather than simply listing them out. Also, there isn't any photo link. How can a jazz performer not have thousands of pictures of live performances and all that? I'm puzzled. Well.. don't say I didn't warn you! Miles Davis is (can you refer to someone who has passed away in present tense?) good, but milesdavis.com doesn't live up to expectations. Hey, don't look at me, I'm only featuring the performer and his music.. not his site.

Stuff I like by him?
Basically the whole "Birth of the Cool" album will do.

My song for the day!

Alkaline Trio - Radio

Shaking like a dog shittin' razorblades,
waking up next to nothing after dreaming of you and me
I'm waking up all alone, waking up so relieved
while you're taking your time with apologies,
I'm making my plans for revenge
Red eyes on orange horizons
If Columbus was wrong I'd drive straight off the edge
I'd drive straight off the edge

Taking your own life with boredom,
I'm taking my own life with wine -
it helps you to rule out the sorrow,
it helps me to empty my mind
Making the most of a bad time
I'm smoking the brains from my head
Leaving the coal calling the kettle black and orange and red
This kettle is seeing red

I've got a big fat fuckin' bone to pick with you my darling
In case you haven't heard I'm sick and tired of trying
I wish you would take my radio to bathe with you,
plugged in and ready to fall

Shaking like a dog shittin' razorblades,
waking up next to nothing after dreaming of you and me
I'm waking up all alone, waking up so relieved
while you're taking your time with apologies,
I'm planning out my revenge
Red eyes on orange horizons
If Columbus was wrong I'd drive straight off the edge
I'm seeing red

I've got a big fat fuckin' bone to pick with you my darling
In case you haven't heard I'm sick and tired of trying
I wish you would take my radio to bathe with you,
plugged in and ready to fall

Plugged in and ready to fall
Plugged in and ready to fall

Plugged in and ready to fall

Late concert update: Avril!

Rating: 7.8/10

Here's an extract from my personal diary entry..kinda lazy to re-write another one:
It was $51 for a one-hour concert.. pretty good value for money. The one crappy thing about it was the fact that I'm shorter than a lot of the other guys there.. was blocked for a pretty large part of the show.. however, I did get a good look at her when she was playing a song solo.. "Tomorrow". She looks exactly like in the MTVs.. cept her hair is kinda messy and not as nice.. Well.. she played every single song on the album.. which was quite good in a way because no one was let down. Well.. one of the really cool things happened after the concert. haha strangely enough, when we were on our way out of the concert hall, my friend Joanne asked if we should take a picture near the stage.. so we just dilly-dallied around the stage and got people to take a pic for us.. suddenly this punk kid who was taking the pic for us pointed towards the stage.. some stage crew guy was throwing a hundred or so guitar picks at the crowd.. it was a magical sight.. the raining colourful picks.. but then it turned ugly (as most things in Singapore eventually do) when the people started pushing each other around on the ground to snatch the picks. Being the lazy person that I am, I just told myself not to bother cos I can't fight with their kiasu blood... then the guy threw another handful of pics my direction... I stared at them as they rained down near me (seemingly in slow-mo).. reached out my hand, and like those people in those big time lucky draws, I grabbed one pink pick from the air... everyone around me was on the ground.. and I was the only triumphant moron grinning with my hand in the air grasping the pink pick like there's no tomorrow...it felt kinda nice.
Later, this cheenafied looking girl walks over to us and asks "Are those the concert picks?" -- We told her yes and wondered what the hell she wanted.. the she said "I'm working with a magazine in HongKong and I'd like to take a picture of you guys holding out your picks. Is that okay?" --OF COURSE! We were more than happy to comply to her little request... (HK get ready to see poxy pam). Oh did I mention the picks have "Avril" written one side..and her signature on the other side. Nice.. :)

Never expected them to look this good :
Better Than Ezra

I've always thought they weren't a good looking band..because they make such good music.. That's what I'd call the Foo Fighters Syndrome. HAHAHA.
I was so bored this afternoon that I decided to check out their website.. and wow! Its really pretty. Cool vintage-like effects.

www.betterthanezra.com

What a cool band.. they even co-host a golf tournament?? The Ezra Open...wahhh...
Still humble, they're only charging US$20+ for concert tickets... and they even accept song requests for their concerts.
My reaction was simply a big and unglamourous "WAH LAU, SHOIK!"

Sociology of music: Songs about bad fathers
So, here are some songs that are quite reflective of certain families in our society today. Oldies never had this kinda songs at all.. Was it that these kind of shitty parents didn't exist? Or was it because the only way to sell music in the past was by selling a certain kind of pseudo-happiness, while in our current times, angst and anger sells. (Think Eminem.) Just a thought!

Everclear - Father Of Mine

Father of mine
tell me where did you go
you had the world inside your hand
but you did not seem to know

Father of mine
tell me what do you see
When you look back at your wasted life
and you don't see me

Better Than Ezra - Beautiful Mistake

Waiting for this day
Well I memorized the things I'd say
How you broke her when you disappeared
How I hear her say,

"You'd make your father proud."
It echoes through the years
As if I could forget all a mother's tears

Good Charlotte - Emotionless

it's been a long hard road without you by my side
why weren't you there all the nights that we cried
you broke my mother's heart
you broke your children for life
it's not ok,
but we're all right
I remember the days, you were a hero in my eyes
but those were just a long lost memory of mine
I spent so many years learning how to survive
Now, I'm writing just to let you know that I'm still alive

/ sublime // 10:32 AM

Song of the day: New Found Glory - My Friends Over You
A punkish song about love that isn't meant to be. Hmm.. how cool is that? A very jump-jump kinda tune that is totally replayable. Excellent.

I’m drunk off your kiss
For another night in a row
This is becoming too routine for me
But I did not mean to lead you on
And it’s all right to pretend
That we still talk
It’s just for show, isn’t it?
It’s my fault that it fell apart

Just maybe
you need this
and I didn’t
Mean to
lead you on

-[CHORUS]-
You were everything I wanted
but I just can't
finish what I've started
There’s no room left here on my back
It was damaged long ago
Though you swear that you are true
I’d still pick my friends over you
My friends over you

Please tell me everything,
That you think that I should know
About all the plans you made
When I was no where to be found
And it’s all right to forget
That we still talk
It’s just for fun, isn’t it?
It’s my fault that it fell apart

Just maybe (maybe)
You need this (you need this)
and I didn’t (and I didn’t)
Mean to
lead you on

-[CHORUS]-
You were everything I wanted
but I just can't finish what I've started
There’s no room left here on my back
It was damaged long ago
Though you swear that you are true
I’d still pick my friends over you
My friends over you

Just maybe you need this
You need this…
And I didn’t
Mean to
Lead you on

You were everything I wanted
but I just can't
finish what I've started
There’s no room left here on my back
It was damaged long ago
Though you swear that you are true
I’d still pick my friends over…

You were everything I wanted (everything I wanted)
But I just can't
finish what I've started
There’s no room left here on my back
It was damaged long ago
Though you swear that you are true
I’d still pick my friends over you
My friends over you

Music: My Favourites
Yes.. I've decided to write up a song list made up completely of the songs that I love best. Here is a list of Pam's favourites!

>>All time favourites:<<

U2 - All I want is You
First heard this song when I watched Reality Bites quite some time ago.. bought the soundtrack and I discovered my love for this song. That same soundtrack also happens to feature my next all time favourite..

Lisa Loeb - Stay
I was 11 when I started liking this song. Heard it on the radio very often and I started to like it a lot. This is the first song whose lyrics I learnt by heart.

Greenday - Basketcase
I started feeling a real bond with this song during my O level exam period because I used to headbang to it on replay every night after studying to destress.

Foo Fighters - Walking After You
This song was my favourite during a very..how would you put it... very interesting point in my life. It was the first time I thought I was in love. Yeah.. every time the song came on.. I started to think of the person. And.. even when I hear it now, it brings back the good memories of that time in my life.

Madonna - I'll Remember
Can't remember when I liked this song or why. I just like it.

Dave Matthews Band - Crash Into Me
I liked this song since the first time I heard it on the radio ages ago, but I didn't fall in love with it until the day where my friend Sean sent me a CD compilation of their stuff all the way from Canada. I absolutely fell head over heels in love with their music, especially this song.

Texas - Say What You Want
An amazing song which stayed on the top of the charts for ages. I liked the song a lot when it was on the Rick Dees charts.. yes.. I'm into commercialised music as well. I kept cheering for the song every week..hoping it would keep staying at number 1. Somehow I grew to love it.. theres another cool version of the song featuring the Wu Tang Clan as well. (Method Man Mix).

Everclear - So Much For The Afterglow
The whole album which has the same name of this track is fantastic! But I like this song because of the way it starts of...the mock church like thingy...and how it becomes all noisy and rocky after that. Cool. Hahah..

Sheryl Crow - Strong Enough
I've liked this song for so darn long.. although it featured prominently in a strange period of my love life, I still love it. Its a song that I can somehow... connect to I guess.

>>Classical Favourites:<<

English Patient ost - Convento Di Sant'Anna
The 9 minute long piano piece is slow, but brilliantly paced. Its gorgeous melody is just... hypnotic. I listened to it on repeat and I didn't get sick of it until the 8th time? That's pretty good for me. Haha..

Wim Mertens - Close Cover
I think this song is on the Cafe Del Mar compilations..well anyway, this is another piano piece. Its got an excellent tune that is so sound track worthy. A very strong and emotive piece.

Pachebel - Canon in D
The world's most commonly used wedding/funeral song. There are many many versions of this piece, but my favourite is the full orchestra one. As each instrument is introduced along the course of the song, they all gel and form one huge wave of beautiful music. I started liking it when I heard it being played during the late Princess Diana's funeral years back.

Vangelis - La Petite Fille De La Mer
A magical little piece filled with bell like sounds..I don't know how to describe it. I noticed the song when I went to watch Slava's Snow Show. The sad clown was miming a slow-motion scene across the stage, and this sad little tune was playing. I will always have that scene etched into my mind. It was prettily melancholic.

Offenbach - Baracolle
Featured on the Life Is Beautiful (La Vita E Bella) ost, this opera piece was played during a very touching and sweet scene.. I guess it helps where you first notice a song because that's the way you will remember it. In that fantastic movie, I learnt how to appreciate my first opera song.

>>Dance Favourites:<<

Way Out West - Mind Circus
I've mentioned this song at least 3 times on this blog... broadly categorized under dance music.. this song is like a drug.. extremely addictive.

IIO - Rapture
Sugar..you make my soul complete... rapture tastes so sweet...catchy tune and beat...

Underworld - Born Slippy
Sometimes its hard to put into words why you like certain dance songs.

ATB - 9pm till I come
Yes... I know... I know... ah lian music... But I like this one...too bad the song has been kinda tarnished by the lian/beng image thats plastered all over it. The club mix one actually has a pretty fantastic beat.

>>Punk n Ska:<<

Sublime - What I Got
How can anyone NOT like this song? Its got such a cool beat and sing-a-longable lyrics.

Less Than Jake - I think I Love You ( Punk Cover)
Cute cover of an old song.

Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons
Another excellent version of Nena's song from long ago. They really did a very very good job with it. I'd say this is my favourite punk song.

Goldfinger - Just Like Heaven
ANOTHER cover by them. Originally done by The Cure. Excellent song...even the original version is darn nice.

Band Name Generators

This is really new to me. Band Name Generators actually exist??

I thought musicians were all for..artistic expression, identity and yadda yadda yadda. Hmm..

Its still interesting anyway.
Here's some names I've got churned out for me..

Herpes Roulette
Goddamn And The Door Slams (LOLOL)
Sincere Pumpkin Patch
Accidental Goatee
The Dog Sponges
Butt Rubies (haha)
Better Lampless Than Noseless (??!!??)
Expensive Lesbians
Hemp Gelato (yum)
Sense Sets Fire

My personal favourite: *drumroll*

Your MaMa And The PaPas

HAHA!

/ sublime // 1:06 PM

Girls Girls Girls...
Ahh..female vocals.. the best thing to come about since.....post-it pads? Here are some of the songs featuring female singers, either solo artists or bands, which I think are absolutely fantastic. I actually know of a friend who does not like female vocals.. he doesn't know what he's missing!!

Tina Arena - Burn
Some kinda inspirational segment of the song going on here..but her voice is really nice and soothing. Whatever happened to her though?

Alanis Morisette - One Hand In My Pocket
The song composed mainly of opposites!! I just love Alanis.. this isn't as angsty as the other songs on her debut album "Jagged Little Pill", but thats exactly the reason why it appeals to me. Its a bit more optimistic. Her semi-yodel-like voice is so fun to copy.

Sarah McLachlan - Angel
An instantly recognizable voice which rises and falls, she sings with SO MUCH EMOTION! She sounds like she wants to cry in this song... its so sweet.

Billie Myers - Kiss The Rain
The androgynous voice. I thought she was a he at first... but hey! How many women can sound like men? Ahhh.. just kidding. It's a pretty nice song anyway.

Cranberries - Still In Love With You
Delores...whoa can she sing. Petite and powerful. I like most of their songs, but I'm currently into this old one because it has a cool drum beat. Queen of yodelling right here. "Be with yoo-hooo-hoooo--hooo-ooo" -- she manages to split "you" up into a 5 syllable word.

Dido - Here With Me
She has such a sweet yet melancholic voice.. a bit like Bjork, but not as irritating and airy. Her voice is so soothing and there isn't a hint of shrillness in it at all. Perfect to fall asleep to.

Sheryl Crow - Strong Enough
She's excellent. I think she's one cool chic with a super unique voice. I love this song.. its pretty old..but its just...lovely. Her voice is a bit country sounding..but its unique and nice in its own very special way.

Macy Gray - I Try
Heyheyhey..before you reel in disbelief, think about this. How many women can imitate Donald Duck while singing a lovely song like this one? I really like her and I actually own her album! So sue me.

Jewel - You Were Meant For Me
Soft and gentle one moment...then strong and loud the next. Who else but Jewel can do this? She's got a voice that you can recognize anytime. Don't know how to describe it..

Roxette - Milk and Toast and Honey
My gosh they've been around ages haven't they? It's amazing that they've still managed to churn out nice songs like the above mentioned. A nice happy magical feel-good tune from the band that's been famous since I was 6. Her vocals aren't pushed to the limit like they used to be in their older songs like "Joyride". Age must be catching up with her.

Lisa Loeb - Someone You Should Know
So what if all her songs sound a bit alike? I like her a lot! She's got a nice listenable voice that I havent gotten sick of even though I've been listening to her for about 8 years. She writes pretty good lyrics too.

Madonna - Like a Prayer
The woman who's changed her image a million times. Madonna is absolutely amazing. Her music... well, some songs are fantastic while others just put me off. However, I think she's one of the greatest female singers of recent times. Cannot believe that baby-dangling MJ said she could not sing/dance last time. Look who's having the last laugh now! Her voice isn't that great, she doesn't write her own music..yet she's a legend. Well done!

Norah Jones - What Would I do
One of the newest jazz vocalists to make it really big. She's got a really cool and poweful voice that can change to suit the mood of the song. Soft and gentle for certain songs...yet slightly phlegmy (you know what I mean) for the jazzy numbers like this one.

Michelle Branch - You Get Me
A young lady who's EXTREMELY talented. Singer/songwriter who was born with a nice voice and cute face to match. All the songs on her album are good tunes and she doesn't have any disgusting image like Britney or Christina... just nice and clean. Keeping it real is the way to go.

Diana Krall - Cry Me A River
Queen of jazz, Krall sings with all the jazzy emotion that one can churn up. In this song especially, her low and powerful voice reverberates against the four walls of my room.. enough to make anyone listening to it feel like they did her wrong. Woooo.

Song of the Day: Good Charlotte - Wondering

If you want me to wait
I will wait for you
If you tell me to stay
I would stay right thru
If you don't wanna say anything at all
I'm happy wondering
Since I was a young man
I was never a fun man
I never had a plan and no security
Then ever since I met you
I could never forget you
I only wanna get you right here next to me
Cause everybody needs someone that they trust and.
You're somebody that I found just in time
Now my life is changing
It's always rearranging
Its always getting stranger then I thought it ever could
Ever since I found you
I wanna be around you
I wanna get down to the point
That I need you
Cause everybody needs someone that they trust and.
You're somebody that I found just in time
If you want me to wait
I will wait for you
If you tell me to stay
I would stay right thru
If you don't wanna say anything at all
I'm happy wondering
Don't tell me the bad news
Don't tell me anything at all
Just tell me that you need me
And stay right here with me
If you want me to wait
I would wait for you
If you tell me to stay
I would stay right thru
If you don't wanna say anything at all
I'm happy wondering

--> Thought it was a nice love song until I saw some of the behind the scenes footage stored on the album.. it's actually about one of the band's members singing about his dog!! I think its smart, the way they twisted the song.. plus the fact that it's pretty catchy..it's my song for the day here in Bangkok (where there are so many stray dogs around).

War of the concerts-- 2002.

I've been for 3 concerts this year, and the most recent one was around 8 hours ago. Time to compare them all and declare my favourite!

Cranberries and No Doubt
- Absolute value for money, crashed into the more expensive zone.
- Cranberries' Delores' voice is absolutely amazing live
- Gwen Stefani rocked the Indoor Stadium
- Loads of dancing
- Sound system a bit screwy
- Made me an even bigger fan of them
- No joint encore though

Diana Krall -- Jazz concert
- Free ticket cos I was someone's replacement date
- Seats a bit far away but still could see the stage pretty clearly
- vocals sounds more or less the same as in the albums
- musicians were fantastic
- good choice of songs

Red Hot Chilli Peppers
- Did not buy pit tickets cos they were going at $176 (bloooody expensive)
- Sound system screwy at front bit where we would barely hear the vocals
- security too strict.. no crashing
- Didn't recognize many songs
- Only lasted 2 hours
- Loads of jumping around
- Very energetic and lively

The obvious winners are: Cranberries and No Doubt!

What about Cranberries vs No doubt?

Although Delores' voice was absolutely amazing, Gwen's mad antics and energy rocked the house more. Plus, No Doubt had a cool drum set.. yeah there were lights in it and it was multi-coloured. HAHA..

No doubt it was NO DOUBT who rocked most this year.

Concerts I missed/gave me a miss:
- Coldplay + Travis (darn darn!!!)
- Oasis (chickens who cancelled the concert!!)

NEXT CONCERT I WANNA ATTEND:

Norah Jones (jazzzz) in Jan 2003!!!!

Presenter : Good. It is a simple game. When I say something you have to
give an answer that is opposite to what I have said. For eg. when I say Sharp, you have to answer Blunt. OK?
Contestant : OK.
Presenter : Sun
Contestant : Moon.
Presenter : Black
Contestant : White.

For those who are not familiar with the term CHIBAI (also spelt Chee Bye), here's the definition courtesy of TalkingCock.com:

CHEE BYE
(chee bai)
One of the rudest terms in Singlish. Essentially, "vagina", though not confined to clinical gynecological circumstances. The English equivalent would be "cunt".

Dance Music

Yep so lately I've been on a house/trance/chillout downloading streak. Here are some tracks that grabbed my attention. I don't know it they've been labelled correctly, because its just what I get off Kazaa. I'm no authority on dance music. Its just what appeals to me..extremely subjective!!

Kosheen - Catch (Way Out West remix)
Pretty nice.. quite a sexy dance song. My hot favourite of the moment.

Lemongrass - A Journey To A Star
Nice chill out kinda feel to this one.

Lemongrass - Sunrise On Fujijama
Cool beats..another nice chill out song.

John Digweed - Enjoy the Silence

John Digweed - Out of Body Experience
Close your eyes and just enjoy this one. It really is quite ethereal.

Way Out West - Mind Circus
There's a more dancey mix by Gabriel and Dresdon. I quite like the original though. The piano..the beats...the electronic sounds...the sexy vocals.. an excellent combination.

Way Out West - The Gift

Fac 15 feat. Cathi Ogden - Twisted By The Pool
Altho the same beat is retained throughout the whole song, I still think its quite an awesome to chill out to.

There are also some hour long stuff that's worth downloading if you've got cable connection..I like:
- FatBoySlim live on Brighton Beach
- Paul Van Dyke live at the Ministry Of Sound

The following links are from the same site:
